Wellington Wedding Photographers: Collective Photography and Design
Wellington Photographer Emma Spiers has been taking photographs for over 10 years. In 2003 she returned to New Zealand and formalised her qualifications with a Bachelor's degree in Visual Arts, majoring in Photography, with a minor in Graphic Design. Since graduating with a BMA she has joined the NZIPP, and was honored to be awarded a silver with distinction for her entry in the 2009 Iris Wedding awards. Emma draws on her background in photo-documentary and fine art to tell the story of your wedding day, preferring natural, moody images to stiff formal portraits.
As well as stunning wedding photos, Emma's experience in Photoshop and Graphic Design allows her to create beautiful Queensberry wedding albums in both traditional and contemporary formats and also less formal coffee table style books. Recently married herself, she understands the importance of a lasting record. Your wedding day may be over before you know it, but your album can re-tell your story for you, your children and many generations to come. Having been a bride, she knows that the little details count, the shoes you shopped for weeks for, the necklace your grandmother loaned you, the flowers that blew the budget and yes, she will get a shot of your dress from the back! Her emphasis is in capturing moments and relationships, telling your story as it unfolds.
Emma's work is graphically strong and conceptually innovative. She won't over-direct, but during your location shoot you can trust her to fix the train of your dress, re-attach your veil, or let you know if you have lipstick on your teeth! No two weddings are the same and Emma will take the time to meet with you before your day. She sees your photographs and album as a collaborative effort and values any input you may have.
